Interazioni fra delfini e pesca in Adriatico settentrionale
We just produced a report (in Italian) in the context of a collaboration with the University of Padua, Italy. It is a review of dolphins-fisheries conflict in the northern Adriatic Sea, based in part on this year's field experience.
The report is available at the link below:

Back in Venice
Today one more presentation on our research and conservation activities in the NW Adriatic. It happened at the Venice Natural History Museum, during a workshop on sea turtle and dolphin interactions with fisheries.
It's been a nice opportunity for meeting old friends and former colleagues, back from the times when our office was located in Venice and hosted by the Museum (thank you Luca Mizzan and Mauro Bon!).

Workshop with fishers in Pila, Italy (2)
After the seminar in Chioggia, we presented our work at a workshop with professional fishers at the fish market of Pila, Italy, together with colleagues from the University of Padua. There was a rather lively debate on the perceived conflict between the priorities of the fisheries sector and possible conservation measures to protect dolphin habitat. Thank you Sandro Mazzariol for inviting us!

Dolphins and beam trawlers
Dolphins off the coasts of Veneto, Italy, forage behind bottom trawlers and midwater pair trawlers, but normally they do not follow beam trawlers. This bottlenose dolphin group crossed a beam trawler but just ignored it, diving past the boat and moving on without changing track.

Dolphin and cod end buoy
Bottlenose dolphin surfacing besides the cod-end buoy of a bottom trawler while the net is being dragged. For dolphins off Veneto, Italy, following bottom and midwater trawlers is a 'popular' foraging behaviour.
